♻️【Contact Lens Blister Pack Recycling 101: It’s NOT Just Tossing Them In!】
The Ultimate No.5 PP Guide + Step-by-Step Sorting Tutorial ♡
So many of you say: “I want to recycle, but why do you keep telling me I’m doing it wrong?”
Because… contact lens blister packs are SPECIAL! They’re made of precious **No.5 PP (polypropylene)** ♻️
This PP plastic is super high-quality and in huge demand. After recycling, it gets reborn as:
🟢 Brand-new sunglasses frames (yes, some luxury brands already do this!)
🟢 Pens, rulers, folders
🟢 Carabiners, keychains, outdoor gear
🟢 Even car parts and homeware!
But… if even a tiny piece of aluminum foil is left stuck on it, the entire batch becomes contaminated and basically worthless 😭
Recycling plants either reject it or have to manually remove the foil (super expensive and slow).
✅ 2025 Correct Way to Recycle Blister Packs (Follow this = perfect score!)
1. Peel off the foil completely (use your nails on the edges – get every last bit!)
2. Rinse the plastic shell quickly with water (no dish soap needed)
3. Turn upside down and air-dry fully (no water droplets left)
4. Put plastic shells in ONE bag, foil in ANOTHER bag
5. Drop off at stores or stations that accept contact lens pack recycling
Thank you for taking those extra 10 seconds to do it right 🙏
One person feels small, but Hong Kong throws away hundreds of thousands of pairs every single day.
